There are so many ways to fight this Administration. Here’s one everybody can do: #grabyourwallet

Background info:

The #GrabYourWallet movement began in the wake of the release of the Access Hollywood tape. Two women simultaneously realized they could no longer in good conscience do business with the companies that were doing business with the Trump family. Never having met, Shannon Coulter and Sue Atencio joined forces on October 11, 2016 and announced on Twitter they’d be boycotting any retailer that carried Trump products. They published a short list of such retailers later that same evening and on October 14th, Shannon–a digital strategist–introduced the #GrabYourWallet hashtag. The hashtag exploded on social media and has been viewed over a billion times.

The #GrabYourWallet movement is now a 501c4 nonprofit, The Grab Your Wallet Alliance. To get in touch, send an email to Shannon@grabyourwallet.org.

Some accomplishments:

More than 70 have companies severed ties with the Trump family, including Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Hudson’s Bay, Jet, Carnival Cruise, and Kawasaki. In July 2018, Ivanka Trump announced she was shuttering her fashion line. In the ensuing coverage, several news outlets including Glamour, Elle, and Bloomberg credited #GrabYourWallet as a consumer power tour de force.

On August 12, 2018, #GrabYourWallet launched a campaign called #BlockParty500 to remove Alex Jones from Twitter due to his long standing track record of deceptive and harmful content practices. The action went viral and quickly accrued over 80,000 subscribers on Twitter. The action was covered by Adweek, The Observer, Mic, The Verge, The Next Web and PC Magazine. On September 6, 2018, Twitter announced it was banning Alex Jones permanently from its platform. Notable figures who have amplified or supported the movement include Don Cheadle, Greg Louganis, Lucy Lawless, Roseanne Cash, Neko Case, Joyce Carol Oates, Robert Reich, Pam Grier, George Clinton, John Leguizamo, Rob Corddry and Ben Cohen of Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream.
